Delta Dental Foundation
The Delta Dental Foundation is an oral health leader among Colorado's charitable organizations. Since 2002, the Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation has funded numerous programs related to its mission of preventing oral disease and advancing the science and practice of dentistry. Some of the Foundation's efforts include:
- Working with the State of Colorado to develop a statewide oral health strategic plan.
- Partnering with Kids in Need of Dentistry (KIND) to double the size of the Metro Denver school-based sealant program.
- Funding a pilot program that provides funding for dental hygienists in pediatrician's offices. The goal is promote oral health and preventive education for families and their young children.
- Participating in a collaborative effort with other foundations to improve access to dental services and the understanding of preventive dental care.
- Creating an oral health community education program, which provides learning opportunities for public policy and community experts.

Delta Dental's Smile-a-bration
In recent years, Delta Dental has provided $2 million worth of free dental care to more than 10,000 uninsured Colorado children. Delta Dental has partnered with dentists and a variety of health care and community organizations to make Smile-a-bration a success. Uninsured children through age 18 received dental exams, fillings, x-rays, tooth sealants, crowns and extractions. For many children, it was the first time they had seen a dentist. Many others had significant dental pain that was eased through treatment. Delta Dental has recognized that by treating children's dental needs, we have improved their overall health and self-esteem.
