Delta Dental in the Community
We’re different than most insurance companies. We're a non-profit. Instead of worrying about our bottom line, we focus on doing good within our community. It’s what sets us apart from other carriers. It’s also one of the keys to our success.
Strong Supporters of Mile High United Way
One hundred percent of our employees contribute to the Mile High United Way annually. We were honored to receive the Champion of Hope award for three consecutive years. In 2010, Delta Dental of Colorado employees donated more than $80,000 to the Mile High United Way.
Committed to Community Causes
Delta Dental's employees and their families volunteer in our community. Staff and families have contributed hundreds of hours to projects like:
- Donating food to local food banks
- Fundraising walks/runs for local chapters of national charities
Community Benefit Programs
Delta Dental of Colorado Fund
In 2011, the Delta Dental of Colorado Board of Trustees approved formation of the Delta Dental of Colorado Fund. The Fund provides two years of free dental insurance to income-qualified individuals across Colorado. Since the launch in October 2011, we've managed to enroll more than 6,000 low-income Coloradoans in the DDCO Fund. At this time, however, we have reached capacity for enrollment and are no longer accepting applications.
Cavity Free at Three
Delta Dental of Colorado’s Foundation made a $1.5 million grant to The Children’s Hospital to establish Cavity Free at Three. The program helps children who don’t have access to dental care. The clinic has seen 1,152 children and provided more than $95,000 in services. About 78% of participants are on Medicaid.
Invest
Through a $1.4 million grant, Delta Dental provided free dental insurance to qualifying Colorado residents. The program covered nearly 1,000 members who submitted more than 5,000 claims. The total paid out through the Invest program was $1,033,319.
Chopper Toppers
The Kids in Need of Dentistry (KIND) program provided dental care to children in 79 local schools. More than 3,000 children received 6,000 sealants (or chopper toppers). More than half of the kids needed restorative dental work, which they got for free with this program.
Smile-a-Bration
Smile-a-Bration gives a year of free dental insurance to low-income children. It has helped more than 900 Colorado kids—investing $308,000 in their care.
Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+)
Delta Dental of Colorado handles the dental benefits of the CHP+ program. The program provides medical and dental coverage to kids whose families cannot afford private insurance. It provides up to $600 of dental benefits per calendar year.
